USB Power Delivery

Built for iPhone charging

Fermi20 charges over USB Power Delivery, the standard USB-C devices use to fast charge. When you plug in, your iPhone and the adapter agree on power in a fraction of a second, before charging begins.

Your iPhone always decides how much power it takes. The adapter offers; the device chooses, based on its battery level, its temperature and its model.

Fermi20 has a GaN power stage. GaN, gallium nitride, is the semiconductor that switches the power inside the adapter, in place of conventional silicon.

Simple

  1. You plug in, and the adapter supplies a safe, low level first.
  2. The adapter tells your iPhone what it can offer.
  3. Your iPhone picks the level it wants, and fast charging begins.
  4. As the battery fills, your iPhone takes less.

Engineering

  1. Attach detection. The adapter detects a device on the USB-C cable and supplies a safe 5 volts.
  2. Source capabilities. The adapter sends the power levels it can supply.
  3. Request. Your iPhone asks for one of them.
  4. Accept. The adapter agrees to the request.
  5. PS_RDY. The adapter switches to the agreed level and signals that power is ready.
  6. Your iPhone manages its own charge. As the battery fills or warms, it draws less, and it can ask again.

Using it safely

Use and care

  • Keep it in open air while it is plugged in. Don't cover it with a blanket or pillow, or keep it under your body.
  • Keep it dry. Don't use it near a sink, bath or shower, and don't plug it in or unplug it with wet hands.
  • Unplug it and stop using it if the cable is frayed, if the pins or case are damaged, or if it has been in rain or liquid. Unplug it before you clean it.
